Ms. Deepa Kumari, BE (Computer Systems Engineering), MUET, Jamshoro.
Miss Deepa Kumari belongs to a very poor family of Hindu community from a very small town of Sindh namely "Umerkot". Her family is consisting on six family members, mother, father, two brothers and two sisters. Getting higher education was her ambition from childhood, but the big obstacles in her dreams were the poverty and cultural family restrictions to go for higher studies. As her father has a small shop of spare parts in Umerkot and could not afford the higher expenses of her studies. His annual income is less than $2000 (two thousand dollars) thus the family is from hand to mouth.
Despite of financial hardships and family restrictions, she decided to continue her higher studies.
She did her matriculation in 2012 from Government Girls High School Umerkot with 82% marks and higher secondary education in 2015 with 83 % marks. She took a bold step and borrowed some money from neighbors and applied in Mehran University for admission and successfully got admission on merit by getting Top Ten Position in the entry test of Mehran University. Due to her interest in computers and IT she enrolled herself in the Computer Systems Engineering Department and felt very excited to become an engineering student of a well reputed and ISO recognized quality educational institution of the country.
Due to financial constraints and meeting study expenses, she started to give tuitions to the kids of junior classes to earn some money, and struggled for the higher education which was her ambition to become a top quality engineer. But after some time again, she felt some hindrances in her career due to financial constraints and was worried about her future. At that time she hopelessly, asked the university contact persons and students about any available scholarship opportunities and seen an announcement on University notice boards of USAID-MNBSP Scholarship announced by Student Financial Aid Office of the University. Afterwards, she applied in the university with the hope to secure scholarship and finally she got it on merit. This was the great motivation for her to study hard and work day and night for the better future and quality education. Today, she is one of the intelligent and Top Ten students of her department and studying in first year in the Computer Systems Engineering Department.
Engr. Pirah Noor Soomro, Lecturer, Department of Computer Systems Engineering at IBA-Sukkur.
My father is a government servant and I am the eldest one. I had my early education in Quetta and then we moved to Hyderabad where I got admission in Mehran University. In my first semester I came to know about an scholarship named "SEAFA". I applied through SFAO without knowing how much stipend I will get. My Father was very poor and he could not afford my study expenses. Fortunately my scholarship application was approved and I gone through an scrutiny process, and finally I got scholarship. I was given full scholarship for all the academic years. Due to my hard work I have been in top 3 students in my batch and graduated with flying colors. The scholarship encouraged me to work and prove myself and SFAO helped me a lot to cherish my career. Now I am Lecturer in the Department of Computer Systems Engineering at IBA- Sukkur. And with the blessings of Allah I got selected by HEC as an "HEC scholar" for MS leading to PhD. Currently I am doing MS in KOC University, Turkey. I am thankful to SFAO and SEAFA for supporting my educational expenses that helped me a lot to release my financial tensions and focus on my studies
Engr. Gulzar Ahmed, Consultant Engineer, M-I SWACO, Leadding Oil and Gas Company, Schlumberger, Germany.
I witnessed, it was arduous for my family to send me university, they had low wages and could not spare any amount to afford my expenses for 4 years of university education, hence financial assistance was necessary to complete graduation. One day the officials of SFAO visited our department and asked students to apply for the scholarship, so I did and gone through scrutiny process. Finally, tt was delightful to see my name in the selection list. The awarded amount was good to meet all educational and boarding expenses. The Scholarship provided relief for the family and motivated me to complete the graduation without any stress.
After completion of studies in, instead of wasting time in wait and intention of handsome job, I preferred to be conducive, so started working in a technical institute. My responsibilities were to conduct classes, keeping record of students, resolving enrollment and registration issues indicated by Sindh Board of Technical Education. I remained there for two years and kept applying to avail a job related to my degree. Finally, my dream came true, I was hired as Consultant Engineer by M-I SWACO; part of leading oil and gas industry giant Schlumberger.
The assistance made my family´s dreams come true. I feel; all this was possible because off assistance made by HEC and SFAO MUET.I am grateful and appreciate dedication of SFAO towards students guidance and assistance. SFAO MUET is diligent to facilitate future engineers to pursue their education and career.
Engr. Ali Raza Khoso, Lecturer, MUET, Jamshoro.
I was undergraduate student of Civil Engineering Department, Mehran U.E.T. Jamshoro and graduated in 2014 with the financial support of ´Pakistan Engineering Congress (P.E.C) scholarship´ through SFAO and today, I am working as a Lecturer, in Civil Engineering Department in Mehran U.E.T. Jamshoro.
The scholarship was awarded to me on the basis of my Intermediate Result. I was among top ten position holders of B.I.S.E Mirpurkhas with 83.54%. I found a transparent system of awarding the scholarship by Student Financial Aid Office (S.F.A.O), Mehran University Jamshoro.
I belong to a low income family; I badly needed the scholarship during my study tenure. This scholarship helped me and my parents specially, because financial burden was much released from them in the shape of scholarship amount. By the blessing of Allah Almighty I secured 1st position from 1st year to final year and was continuously awarded this scholarship from 1st term to last term and based on my academic performance I was offered Lecturership by the same University where I completed my studied.

That motivated me a lot. One day I heard about an scholarship opportunity announced by SFAO that was SANA-Fame Scholarship and I applied for that. I gone through an scrutiny procedure and finally got scholarship. I can´t explain my feelings that how I was feeling at that time. I told my parents about this scholarship and they were so happy for me. In such way I received my first amount and paid my hostel fees and bought books and all. Allah created a path for him at every step of life and he completed his education from Primary to Intermediate level with flying colors with the help of his friends & teachers.
He got admission on merit in Mehran U.E.T in Electrical Department but here again he found a big hindrance in his career that was his poverty, he was unable to afford the heavy expenses of education and was just thinking to leave the university. Engr. Raheela Balal , Studying ME at MUET, Jamshoro.
Basically I belong to a very poor family and my father is a driver. We are 7 family members and my father is the only working person. The expenditures of daily life purely rely on my father´s salary and we use to strive to meet both ends by providing coaching and tuition to school students. When I got admission in Electronic Engineering Department of Mehran University and had to submit tuition fees, my father could not afford the expenses of my studies. And there was a time when my routine became very tough and cumbersome for me to continue my higher education. Attending full classes at university and later giving 4-5 hours non-stop tuitions was a painful routine. Doing that much hardship was not sufficient enough to meet my study expenses during those days. To lower my education burden, I applied for scholarship named Sindhi Engineers of America Financial Assistance (SEAFA). The interview for scholarship was conducted by Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) MUET and I was awarded scholarship in first year. The scholarship covered my educational burden for complete duration of my graduation. Due to which I successfully completed my B. E Program and passed with flying colors. I secured 80% and stood in top 20 students in my class in Electronic Engineering Department. Because of this financial assistance, I was able to complete my academic qualification and became an engineer for which I always dreamt to be. I am grateful and have high regards for SFAO for upholding such fair and transparent policy in awarding scholarship to the needy students who really deserve this. Now I am getting higher education and studying in Master of Engineering.
